I’m Michelle, an Alaskan artist living and working in Juneau.
I was born and raised in Anchorage and returned home to Alaska in 2023 after spending over a decade living in the Lower 48. My work is inspired by Southeast Alaska... the ocean, mountains, wildlife, and the shifts of light that make this place feel alive.
All original linocut prints are carved and printed by hand in my home studio in Juneau, Alaska.
Some products (such as greeting cards and stickers) are professionally printed. I use a local Juneau-based print shop for most professionally printed products.
Product listings always specify details about each item.
Yes. My linocut prints are carved by hand and printed one at a time using traditional printmaking techniques.
Because each print is pulled individually, slight variations in ink coverage and texture are part of the process and make each piece unique.
They are not digitally mass-produced.
Linocut is a traditional relief printmaking process. I carve a design into a block by hand, roll ink onto the raised surface, and press it onto paper to create the final image.
You can see a glimpse of the printmaking process in the posts and videos on my Instagram page here.(https://www.instagram.com/its.akmichelle/)
Yes. Every design begins as my own drawing before being carved into a block by hand.
I do not use stock images, clip art, or pre-made designs. Each piece is part of my original body of work.
